I first became interested in osteopathy whilst travelling in the Australian outback, it amazed me to learn how indigenous communities solved all kinds of musculoskeletal problems without the use of pharmaceuticals. By treating without pharmaceuticals the cause of the problem must be dealt with rather than simply masking the symptoms, this is often more complicated, but in my opinion leads to a much better long term result.
I am fascinated by the human body and feel that movement is just as important as physical hands on treatment. This is why I often work alongside a yoga therapist to put together personalised functional movement routines in order to help prevent a problem from returning.
I have treated a wide variety of different people ranging from athletes to the elderly and have spent time as the physical therapist for Bury Port RFC and Swansea University 1st XV. I also ran a successful sports massage therapy business prior to graduating with a Masters of Osteopathy (M.Ost) from Swansea University in 2014. My treatments consist of the use of massage, manipulation and stretching of a person's muscles and joints to prevent and resolve a number of health problems. Osteopathic treatment is commonly used to relieve problems in the following areas:
- Shoulder, neck and arm problems
- Leg, hip and pelvic pain
- Neck and back problems
- Sports and other injuries
I am very fortunate to be able to say that I absolutely love my job, every day is different and it is extremely rewarding to see my patients overcome their pain.
