Maryse Forrest MBACP, PG Dip, BA Hons
About me
I have always had a passion for helping people, starting my career after graduating by working alongside children with additional educational needs before retraining in the field of psychotherapy. I qualified as an Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist at the University of South Wales, and am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
Central to my approach is building a safe and trusting relationship. As an integrative counsellor and psychotherapist, I tailor my way of working to each individual in order to help them achieve their goals and make sense of life’s challenges. Offering a warm, collaborative approach, I draw from a range of models including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Person Centred, Psychodynamic and Existential perspectives.
I am experienced in working with a wide variety of topics ranging from anxiety and depression, to issues of identity, trauma, anger, phobias, OCD, illness, disability, grief, sexuality and relationship difficulties to name a few. I work with clients over the age of 18, and offer short and long-term therapy depending on the individual and their presenting concerns, aiming to help them make the changes they want and need.
I understand how difficult it can be to take the first step into therapy. I therefore hope to create a friendly, safe and non-judgemental space so that clients may begin to feel at ease, whilst moving at their own pace and working on what they choose to explore.
